"Ipoh Welfare Handicap Association" a non-profit organization has been present in the region since 1999
founded by a group of individuals who like to promote self-help and provide mutual support among the disabled.
From the initial stage, we occupy a 2-storey bungalow with total number of 2 members, taken care by our 2 full-time
staff. Although we are a non-profit organization, our society has come a long way from a very modest beginning to
what it is today with 60 members, that many of the guardians have to let go the caring and attention responsibility
of the disable to our society. Currently we also have 12 full-time staff to take care of the disabled.
As before, our society only open to handicapped children, however, as the community had grown up with criticism
attitude toward the disabled group, we have to take our role as non-profit organization welfare group caring of
the disabled, since then our began to be opened to all disabled from any religion without barrier across Malaysia.
We have to satisfy our members for better standard of living, as our members had been grown up from 2 until today 60;
we have to seeking donation from community to continuous development, increasing member freedom, and of sharing in a
more equitable distribution of resources.
As our total number of members had growing up, we have to expand our environment and also developed better services
and taken on various projects to meet their needs. Every year medical treatment and consultation will be arranged to
meet our members demand.
As our society is one of the non-profit organizations, we have to seek donation from community, as the biggest
problem we face is financial burden, although nearly 7 years we operate. We have to commit to delivering a valuable,
esteem building service to our members to help them to build up a better living standard and a better tomorrow for them
connecting with other community.
