Interview with Mr. Cheong Kok Leong, PKKKCIP's Chairman
Q: How large is this PKKKCIP land?
A: Around 9000 square metre.
Q: How many occupants are there?
A: 58 disabled residents, who are made up of children and
adults, and 12 full-time staff.
Q: Could you please explain a bit about the history behind this
charity home?
A: PKKKCIP was established in 1999 at Jalan Kampar, Ipoh.
The residents in the charity home ranged from 6 to 60
years old. Residents here are mostly came from poor and single-parent family.
PKKKCIP has been carrying a heavy financial burden since established.
Q: Is there any subsidy from the state government?
A: Yes, but not much since our monthly expense is extremely high. We receive RM5000-RM10000 from the state government every year.
It's better than none anyway.
Q: How are donations received? What are the methods?
A: Public can donate money, food or any other daily item to PKKKCIP
anytime. Usually public will call and inform us that they will bank in their donation money to PKKKCIP's
bank account. Public can also donate their time to volunteer in teaching
and/or looking after children at PKKKCIP. PKKKCIP will also unperiodically organize charity projects like
the recent Charity Dinner for fund-raising.
Q: How does this charity home accept the victims? What are the
criteria?
A: PKKKCIP accepts any children and adult who are either mentally
or physically retarded with a criteria that parents are not able to look after them. Victims who are too tall and big are avoided,
as they could be a harm to other residents if they suddenly out of control.
